Amoeba by Michael Salu.
This special Limited Edition Print 12x12” screenprints comes hand numbered and signed in editions of just 20.
For the launch of the Erased Tapes & Vinyl Me Please limited edition of Nils Frahm's already classic ‘Spaces’ album Michael Salu produced a series of 4 different artworks each responding to the music on the album which were packaged with the vinyl.
In addition 20 of each piece have been produced as special very limited edition 12 x12 Signed and numbered screenprints on 250gsm textured fine art paper.
Nils Frahm uniquely merges classical melodic forms and an underlying modular geometry, which is something I’ve looked to echo with these algorithmic images. Each are generative works that use simple formulas of repetition to create densely layered aesthetics, rather like Nil’s work itself which always appear perfectly formed. Nature has an inherent algorithmic structure whether that be the composition of a plant or that of a sound.
Spaces also led me to think about the use of negative space, or space being as important to a work be that sound or image.
All the art produced for this series, uses either a single or combination of three basic forms: circle, square and line.
